Alaska hiking is one of the adventurous pursuits you will have the opportunity to experience in remote and pristine areas of Alaska’s Inside Passage. Guided wilderness hikes of various lengths and activity levels will be made available through your stimulating Alaska un-cruise. An expert crewmember trained in CPR and first aid and equipped with a radio to the ship will be your guide whenever you decide you want to take an extended hike, or a combined excursion of hiking, fishing, kayaking or overnight camping.

At InnerSea Discoveries we have taken extra care in our hiring so you will be in the hands of Alaska hiking experts who are fully trained in CPR, first aid and wilderness Alaska hiking. They are experienced and competent with a love of the outdoors they are eager to share with you. They have carefully rated all our hiking activities to ensure your expectations are met.

Level 1 - Activities are excursions that require basic physical fitness and offer a relaxing way to explore.
Level 2 - Activities are excursions that require an intermediate level of physical fitness and are slightly more challenging.
Level 3 - Activities are excursions that require exertion, agility and sure-footedness on hikes and/or stamina for the most challenging workout.

Hiking Route/Trail/Map
Some of our offered hikes include:

• Baird Glacier Trail Hike (Level 2) – Baird Glacier is located in Thomas Bay, which is known for glaciers, gold and quartz deposits, moose, brown bears, black bears, wolves and birds. Hiking the Baird Glacier Trail grants you access to stand atop the mile-wide Baird Glacier.
• Cascade Creek Trail Hikes (Level 1 & 3) Several trails are available around scenic Cascade Creek. The 4-mile trail offers beautiful views of the creek as it falls through the canyon.
• Wolverine Creek Trail Hike (Level 1) - Yes Bay offers you a wildlife-seeking hike following the river to Lake McDonald in the Tongass Forest, home to brown and black bears, mink, marten, eagles, otters, whales, porpoise and seals.
• Sashin Lake Trail Hike (Level 2) Located in the Tongass Forest, Sashin Lake extends 1.7 miles from Little Port Walter and is a good habitat for Sitka black-tailed deer, brown bears, mink, marten, and otter. Bird and waterfowl nesting areas are abundant here and bald eagles can be found along the shorelines.
